BRAINS & BRAWN #24
"Thinking Positive vs. Doing It"
There is a fine line between happy wishful thinking and actually getting results. Results come from doing things and not just thinking about them. I guess theoretically you could get a result form thinking about something all of the time - but it won't be to what you want it to be.
In 2006 there was a documentary that came out promising to get whatever you want through positive thinking. The movie was unfortunately based on a flawed premise. It will never work that way.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about changing an attitude to a more positive one. But in order to get desired results:
you have to do something.
This means thinking, planning, acting, analyzing/observing. Developing habits create "automatic" results and it always works. The reason they will work automatically is that a mastered habit is usually carried out unconsciously - meaning you don't have to consciously implement it.
The first principal that should be implemented before changing a diet and exercise plan is most definitely adopting a right mental attitude. A positive mental attitude is a part of the right mental attitude.
Implementing them doesn't just mean thinking about doing something - it also means to actually do it!
